The first Elloughton 10k was set up by Jim Dingwall in 2002; a successful athlete in his own right, representing Scotland at the 1978 Commonwealth Games and finishing 5th in the 1983 London Marathon in 2 hours 11 minutes. Initially called the Elloughton 10k, Jim believed that "as the city's largest athletics club, Kingston should be involved in organising a high quality 10k." When Jim passed away in 2005 after an enduring battle with cancer, race organiser Andy Lyons saw it fit to rename the race "The Jim Dingwall Elloughton 10k." The event also helps to raise money for Dove House Hospice and Yorkshire Cancer Research.

When is it?
Takes place annually, usually on the 2nd Sunday of August. The 2009 race is on 9th August.

The Course
Described as a flat, rural, two lap 10k, starting and finishing at Brantingham Park, Elloughton. Each number on the map below represents a kilometre. The map shows a small lap followed by a large lap in an anti-clockwise direction.
